The other day, my friend, Dawn Drew, came over. She got to witness my personal “nature channel,” which features Herbie the cat and Bob the squirrel.
Every day, Bob, the squirrel, gets to eat his heart out from the bird feeder outside of my window (he is getting a little plump, and there are still seeds for the birds) while Herbie, my cat, chases him. Bob is safe.
But what I find fascinating is this scenario is a gift to Herbie as well. He gets to play and be active all day long. He has a friend who he will wait for every morning. His days are filled with joy, waiting for his friend.
It really is a great way to think about the phrase that “a table is prepared for me before my enemies.” I often say, “God’s rejection is His protection.” This window of protection created an opportunity for both Bob and Herbie that they could not have had without it!
Where has rejection been a protection in your life?
